Indoor Air Quality is one of the most overlooked parts of the HVAC system. With all the pollution that a major metroplex offers such as DFW, we also have to put up with systems that were never sealed properly. Most HVAC systems were never properly maintained plus nor where they properly installed.
A lot of units over time build up a lot of dirt and sometimes mold. They also have attic dirt, dog air, cigarette smoke stains and host of other issues. I cannot reiterate enough that units that aren’t properly maintained or properly installed in the first place will have a lot of problems.
Think about never cleaning your car for 20 years and all of the dirt, dust and rust that would accumulate. This is the same for your HVAC system. The coils must be cleaned once a year. Ducts need to be sealed at all connections to keep pulling in attic pollutants.
UV lights are a great way of mitigating pollutants.
What’s in Your System
UV lights can do the following:
– eliminates VOCs which are the source of nearly all odors.
– detoxes the air with a process called photocatalytic oxidation (a technology similar to the catalytic converter on your car’s exhaust)
– safely reduces both VOCs and biological contaminants inside the air system and throughout the home.
